The Palm Beach Gardens orange grove carousel was still working in 2017 to the delight of local residents, but the 12 famous historical orange medallion paintings that hung from the parapet were in disrepair and required restoration. When Joseph evaluated the condition of the medallion paintings, he found they would all need to be removed due to damage and be completely recreated. After research through historical books of Palm Beach life at the library and armed with reference photos of the original paintings, Joseph painstakingly recreated the various Old Florida scenes directly onto the orange medallion surfaces by hand. Then, all the medallions were treated with weather resistant varnish and were restored to their rightful place on the carousel in August of 2017.
